There are many surface coatings. There are many different processes in the standard categories alone - gaseous, liquid, dissolved or solid - which in turn can be subdivided into countless variants. Surface coating - or surface technology - is a science in itself. At Venjakob, we prefer to take a very practical approach and concentrate on four three processes: Spraying, dipping & flood and rolling. For each of these processes, we offer individual designs based on the specific requirements of our customers. These processes are integrated into holistic system concepts that cover the entire process, from feeding and surface pretreatment prior to surface coating to subsequent drying and final finishing. These are individually tailored modules, many of which are also available as stand-alone solutions. The decisive factor for our customers is that they can determine the scope of our range of services themselves. Our customers can rest assured that surface technology at Venjakob is not viewed in isolation, but is precisely tailored to the specific coating task.
The reason for a surface coating
In principle, it is quite simple. First of all, every surface is made from the material of a specific workpiece, a specific product. Each product can consist of very different materials. The respective material may be ideal for the manufacture of this product, but it is usually itself susceptible to the environmental conditions. Metals, for example, may be particularly suitable in the automotive sector, but they are susceptible to corrosion. A surface coating is therefore used here to protect against corrosion. Kitchen furniture may be made of wood, but it is usually only scratch-resistant and wear-resistant thanks to an appropriate coating. However, not every functionally effective coating is also aesthetically pleasing. In other words, coatings not only fulfill functional tasks, but also aesthetic ones. Sometimes they are even purely decorative. This means that coatings not only contribute to maintaining the value of a product, they can also increase its value. Depending on which coating and which coating process is used. But what processes are there and when is which process used?
The different coating processes
There are many surface coatings. There are many different processes in the standard categories alone - gaseous, liquid or solid - which in turn can be subdivided into countless variants. Surface coating - or surface technology - is a science in itself. At Venjakob, we prefer to take a very practical approach and concentrate on four processes: Spraying, dipping & flood and rolling. For each of these processes, we offer individual designs that are geared to the specific requirements of our customers. These processes are integrated into holistic system concepts that cover the entire process, from feeding and surface pretreatment in the run-up to surface coating to subsequent drying and final finishing.
What we at Venjakob understand by coating
Those who, like us at Venjakob, take an individual approach that considers all aspects of coating in relation to a specific coating task, always see the entire systematic structure, layer by layer. Surface coating then means not only the coating itself, but also the surface pretreatment that precedes industrial finishing, flood or dipping and rolling. The different substrates to be coated are all characterized by certain properties that also influence the type and method of surface pretreatment. The pre-treatment that is applied is then in turn decisive for the quality of the coating. This is because it creates the conditions for the coating to adhere optimally, work optimally and fulfill its function perfectly.
How to get your surface coating
It's very simple. Get in touch with us. Let's talk about your production and how we can support you with a customized coating system. What may sound complicated in this description quickly takes on concrete form in our consultation. Questions about which coating processes are available, why surfaces need to be coated, what a surface coating actually consists of - which different coatings, which pre-treatments - all this can usually be clarified very quickly in a personal conversation. There are no barriers to overcome because you know what you want - and we know how we can best support you with our process experience. The really interesting questions then usually arise in the finer details of the process design: What quantities are we talking about? Which paints in how many colors are to be applied how quickly and to what? Are we talking about mass production or batch size 1? What form of automation is possible? What form of drying is required? And how can the exhaust air be cleaned? These are the things that make every project interesting. And we at Venjakob are everything but superficial.
Good to know
If you would like to find out in advance about our expertise across the board, we offer you an insight into our approach under the following keywords:
- Plant engineering: Here you can find out how we develop your plant conceptually. From consulting and planning to commissioning and documentation.
- Surface pretreatment: Here we present all the processes we use to optimally prepare different surfaces for subsequent coating - e.g. via cleaning processes, activation processes or abrasive processes.
- Industrial finishing/coating: Under this point you will find further information on the spraying, dipping/flood and rolling processes.
- Dry coating technology: This aspect is no longer part of the actual surface coating, but it is hard to imagine an efficient, comprehensive coating process without this step. You can find all our drying processes here.
- Automation: Find out how you can make your coating process more efficient through automation here. In addition to automatic spray coating machines, you will also find everything about conveyor and material handling systems here.
- Exhaust air purification: Paint is not paint and solvents must be filtered out of the exhaust air. Exhaust air purification is an integral part of surface coating. We show you which processes we use - and what they achieve.
