An increasing number of schools and companies in East-Westphalia are cooperating.

Cooperation of schools and companies in East-Westphalia is gaining momentum. The Chamber of Industry and Commerce counts 120 cooperations. Almost 40 more than a year ago. Cooperation covers exhibitions, music, mathematics and metal technology projects through to application training..... For seven years, the Chamber of Commerce has brought schools and companies together. The starting group counted four cooperations.

„We are striving to achieve at least 150 cooperations next year“, says Sven Binner, Executive for Vocational Education at the Chamber of Commerce. He sees many advantages in familiarising young people with the sequences in local companies and their representatives as early as possible. „Amongst others, the students can build perspectives for an interesting vocational career“ says Binner. Hubert Renkamp, teacher of technical subjects at the Osterrath-Realschule in Rheda-Wiedenbrück values the „intermeshing of theory and practice“. For two years, his school has been cooperating with the machine builder Venjakob, who is also from Rheda-Wiedenbrück. Amongst others, a robot and a solar energy driven bobby car resulted from this cooperation. „Some of the students were so enthusiastic that they started an apprenticeship with Venjakob once they finished school“ says Renkamp. This is also advantageous for the company: „ It wins suitable apprentices, can present a close-up of a profession and helps shape the vocational selection.“....
